A Weekend in Sedona

Updated: Jan 17

To celebrate our 5 year anniversary, my partner and I decided to take it back to our wedding weekend and travel to the Grand Canyon. Yorle was very excited when our first stop was Shoshone Point the actual location of our 2018 Wedding Vows.

Day 1 - Northern Arizona

Grand Canyon - Shoshone Point

2hour 15minutes from Sedona

Total Hike: 2 miles // 20 minutes // Easy

It was absolutely breathtaking to be back to our spot. This time was quite different from the first as we had to hike to the spot which was only about 1 mile of walking.

Antelope Canyons

3 hours from Sedona (2.5 hours from Grand Canyon)

Total Hike: 2 miles // 20 minutes // Easy*

This was astounding! The night before our trip I received a recommendation for the Adventure Antelope Canyon Tours. Which turned out to be a blessing (s/o to Michele!) because the original tour I planned on using sold out. Be sure to get your tickets early but also Adventure Antelope Canyon Tours offered:

  • We felt like we were on a personal tour, there were only 4 in our group

  • Travel to the Slit Canyons via covered car; we saw other tours in covered Jeep's with a huge group of 15-20 folks. Yikes

  • The tour guide was all about helping us get the best photos with our phones.

Now as a professional photographer I would have enjoyed a little more hands off my camera experience. I also felt like I didn't get to appreciate it as much because he was always asking for my camera.

***I'll say "sorta easy" for this site. You'll definitely feel that you're at 6-7000 feet above sea level. Also the way out of the canyons is all uphill and in a lot of uncovered spaces. I definitely got a little winded walking up the ramp. Bring water and a hat.

Horseshoe Bend

3 hours from Sedona (15 minutes from Antelope Canyon)

Total Hike: 2 miles // 20 minutes // Easy
